Matt and Charla met at Freed Hardeman University and were married in May 2004. They worked with the church in Stantonville, TN from 2004 to 2008, where Matt was the pulpit minister. They are now living in Dallas, TX, training with Continent of Great Cities.
Charla grew up in Henderson and Spring Hill, TN, where her father works as president of the Tennessee Children's Home. Her parents, Brian and Jan, currently live in Spring Hill and attend the West 7th St. congregation in Columbia. She attended Freed Hardeman University from 2000-2003, where she majored in Missions and Pre-Nursing. She graduated from Jackson State Community College with a degree in Nursing in 2005. She currently works as a nurse in the emergency room of the hospital in Selmer, TN.
Matt grew up in Farmington, WV. His parents, Randy and Beth, work with the Oakhurst congregation in Farmington, where his father is the pulpit minister. Growing up in a preacher's home, constantly surrounded by a ministry environment, has been a great blessing to him. He also attended FHU, where he received a Bachelor's degree in Bible in 2003, a Master of Arts in New Testament in 2004, and a Master of Divinity in 2007. Matt's desire to do mission work developed during his time at FHU.
We have participated in campaigns throughout North America, the Caribbean, and South America. It is very real to us that the world is lost and dying. We feel that we are ready for the mission field and have a strong desire to help seek and save those who are lost. We believe that our experience in different ministry and cultural situations and Charla's medical experience have prepared us physically for the mission field.
